More and more European countries are running CME (Continuing Medical Education) systems for physicians, some of which are mandatory.
Therefore, doctors prefer to attend accredited meetings and earn CME credits that will be recognised by their National Accreditation Authorities.
The accredited CME activity distinguishes itself from the other potential educational activities by the fact that its quality has been confirmed by an impartial board of specialists widely recognised in the field of pneumology.
EBAP-accredited events and activities are promoted through EBAP's website, as well as through monthly advertisments in the European Respiratory Journal and Breathe.
Each application that is submitted to EBAP is reviewed by two independent assessors from different countries. Reviewers are either EBAP members or reviewers-at-large who are nominated by National Respiratory Societies. Each programme is assessed in its own right according to criteria pertaining to the relevance of the sessions and the quality of the speakers. Potential industry bias is taken into account before granting accreditation.
Credits are awarded on the basis of 6 credits for a full day of education and 3 credits for half a day of education.
